MAY 25 LEAGUE RECAP New Jersey 1, Quebec 0 – Box New Jersey SS Carlos Truinfel scored the only run of the game on a sacrifice fly from 3B Seth Spivey in the sixth inning as the Jackals defeated Quebec, 1-0. New Jersey pitching was terrific tonight as starting pitcher Lendy Castillo and three relievers combined on a five-hit shutout. Castillo went the first five innings of the contest allowing only three hits while fanning nine batters. The bullpen trio of Chad Gendron, Nate Gercken and Vin Mazzaro tossed the final four innings giving up two hits and striking out three. Gendron notched his first victory of the season and Mazzaro collected his first save. For the Capitales in the losing effort, DH Brandon Martinez went 2-for-3. Ottawa 7, Sussex County 4 – Box The Ottawa Champions jumped out to a 4-0 lead after 1 ½ innings of play and would go on from there to beat Sussex County by the score of 7-4.
