CHAMPIONS POST 9 RUNS IN THE FOURTH, TOP MINERS

The Ottawa Champions posted a massive nine-run fourth inning and held off a late rally from the Sussex Miners to claim a 10-8 win. In the fourth, the Champions sent 13 batters to the plate and recorded eight hits to blow the game wide open. RF Steve Brown hit a lead-off single and scored when CF Tyson Gillies (pictured) doubled in the next at-bat to set the tone for the inning. C Daniel Grauer had an RBI double and scored later in the inning and 3B Gustavo Pierre, SS Daniel Bick and 1B Steve Nyisztor each had RBI singles and then scored themselves as well. Gillies capped things off as he singled to plate DH Sebastien Boucher and then took second on an error that plated Steve Brown as well.Elsewhere, Quebec beat Trois-Rivieres 7-4, and New Jersey beat Rockland by the same margin.
