AIGLES' ALVAREZ NAMED PITCHER OF THE MONTH

The official statistician of the Can-Am League, Pointstreak, has announced that Trois-Rivieres Aigles RHP Edilson Alvarez (pictured) has been named the league’s Rawlings Pitcher of the Month for the month of August. Alvarez made six starts this month, striking out 33 in 39 innings. He earned wins in his final two starts. Facing the Ottawa Champions on August 23, he struck out seven in seven innings. Alvarez allowed just one run on three hits, walking two in a 2-1 win. Since the game was part of a doubleheader, Alvarez’s win was a complete game. He earned another complete game on August 28, scattering five hits over nine full shutout innings against the Champions. Alvarez did not walk a batter and struck out six in a 4-0 win.
