Durham, N.C. — The contract of Lincoln Saltdogs LHP Casey Crosby has been purchased by the Minnesota Twins organization, the American Association announced on Wednesday. Crosby was superb out of the bullpen for Lincoln after joining the club in August, making 16 appearances and registering a 2.16 ERA in 16.2 innings, fanning 17. The Maple Park, Ill., native limited opposing hitters to a .193 average. His stint with the Saltdogs was his first professional appearance since 2014, having been sidelined by injury since then. Previously, Crosby spent seven seasons in the Detroit Tigers’ organization, including three games in the major leagues in 2012. Originally a fifth-round choice by the Tigers out of high school in the 2007 draft, Crosby was Detroit’s minor league Pitcher of the Year in 2009. Crosby is the fourth Lincoln pitcher to have his contract purchased in 2017, following LHP Cesilio Pimentel (Arizona), RHP Shairon Martis (Baltimore) and RHP Brian McAfee (Seattle).
