The Winnipeg Goldeyes general manager, Andrew Collier, was recently quoted in an article about the Goldeyes joining the American Association:

He emphasized that the decision for the 4 teams to merge with the American Association was not based on the Northern League’s operations.  Emphasis was placed on travel costs as the primary reason for the merger.
