Bob Wirz’s “Independent Baseball Insider” column (at www.WirzAndAssociates.com) gives certain websites partial reprint rights. This week’s partial column has an interesting development:
According to Bob, the 2011 Can-Am League is planning on having Ramapo, NY (the Rockland Boulders) ready to go for the start of the season. It also states that the Sussex Skyhawks will go dark for 2011, with no mention of its future plans. Finally, it states that a travel team called the New York Federals will be on the schedule.
If the Federals, indeed, become the 8th team (travel team) for the 2011 Can-Am League schedule then that team likely will have players come from the New York State League, which is a developmental league that is contracted to provide rookie players to Can-Am League teams (http://www.canamleague.com/cgi-bin/dist/news_new.cgi?id=1291923925).
