The Sugar Land City Council and Opening Day Partners announced the formal signing of the agreement for a new Atlantic League team to play in 2012 in Sugar Land, Texas.

What is of interest is that since the Atlantic League let the Newark Bears go to the Can-Am League for 2011, and with the newly announced Loudon Hounds going to play in 2012 as well (http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/sports/Loudoun-Baseball-Goes-to-The-Dogs-103523194.html) the question becomes who will be the 8th Atlantic League team for 2011.

In previous years, the Atlantic League had a travel team called the Road Warriors (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_Warriors_%28Atlantic_League%29).  It is possible that a travel team could balance out the 2011 season as an 8th team, although it is possible to schedule a 7-team league if the costs of running a travel team become too much for the league (and any team ownerships’ contributions) become too high.
