St. Paul Saints To Change Team Name For Atheists On Aug. 10

An article came out of Amarillo this week about an August 10 game between the Amarillo Sox and the St. Paul Saints, to be played in St. Paul.  The game is being sponsored by atheist organizations, and the Saints are adopting a one-day team name change to the “Mr. Paul Aints”.  They are removing any reference to the “Saint” component of their team name for the promotion.

General managers from both teams (Mark Lee of the Sox and Derek Sharrer of the Saints) were quoted in the article.  Here is the link to the team’s schedule for that particular game:

One-day team name changes have happened many times throughout independent baseball since 1993.  You are welcome to leave your thoughts on this promotion attempt.
