Speculation On The Sussex Skyhawks

Ballparkdigest.com posted an article this week about the impending status of the Sussex Skyhakws of the Can-Am League:

Should this be the case then, combined with the uncertainty of the Ramapo (NY) stadium situation, the Can-Am League’s 2011 schedule is still TBA.  Once everything is confirmed then it will be posted on this site.

  1. Both towns better wake up and enjoy the smell of the roses available to them, or they are going to miss out on a great entertainment possibility, regardless of the level of play. The leasor especially in Sussex should lower their expectations, or they will make NO income at all this season. I don’t think they have a good backup alternative, the few fans that NW Jersey has should be up in arms about the prospect of not having anything to do…or to make fewer, longer trips to see games elsewhere. That’s also a loss of a few jobs and internships there also.

The Ramapo people can argue all they want to about how their government does or does not work. But jobs can be created in this venture that is mostly all going to be in the hands of the owners. Active ballparks make an area nice, and they should welcome the cheaper, more family oriented entertainment offered.

It’s just unAmerican not to want a ball team in your area, isn’t it? The Skyhawks logo and motif is one of the finest around, although I thought the Surf was better, and that they should get away from being just another blue clad team. The CanAm simply must upgrade itself to eight teams, but please NOT the dull Grays again! The Pittsfield throwback uniforms idea is a major winner! But their logo was really quite plain. Maybe it’ll get improved next year. Let’s play ball !!!
