The Na Koa Ikaika Maui will be hosting the Ishikawa Million Stars, a team from Japan’s Baseball Challenge League, next week for a two-game exhibition series.  The Maui team is scheduled to travel to Japan in September, likely after any North American League championship series has concluded.

The article states that this is the first time that independent teams from Japan and the U.S. are playing against each other.  This has to be checked for accuracy and it depends on if you count the Japan Samurai Bears who played as a travel team in the Golden Baseball League back in 2005:
