McAllen (Texas) Thunder Folding Season Early

The Texas (McAllen) Thunder had their season end early as well.  This is due to that the team was brought back for the 2013 ULB regular season with the addition of Alexandria.  Since the Aces are no longer going to play this season, the Thunder – which operated out as a neutral site/travel team – was no longer needed.

Here is the official release from the San Angelo Colts about the schedule adjustment for the remainder of the 2013 regular season and the championship:

The United Baseball League announced Friday there are schedule changes that affect the San Angelo Colts, Fort Worth Cats, and Edinburg Roadrunners.

The McAllen Thunder and Alexandria Aces will not complete the 2013 season, and the other four teams will play against one another through the final 32 games. Although the Aces have halted play this year, their front office is still operating and the franchise expects to resume play in 2014.

Rather than playing the Thunder Saturday, July 13 through Tuesday, July 16, San Angelo will play the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings. After the 12-game home stand ends, the Colts will travel to Fort Worth and play three games against the Cats in two days.

After playing four games in Edinburg against the Roadrunners from Thursday, July 25 through Sunday, July 28, the Colts will play the WhiteWings, Roadrunners and Cats from Tuesday, July 30 through Saturday, August 10. San Angelo then ends the season in Fort Worth.

The United League Playoffs will feature the top two teams in a best of three-game series from Thursday, August 15 through Saturday, August 17.

  1. Sure, everybody’s doing it, so why not the Thunder as well. They were in last place, like a travel team is suppose to be. Just hope they got paid!

  2. The Pecos MUST be losing money all over again. Not only have they sacked the daily writer for the league…who was extremely readable and knowledgeable about the game, Dunn seems to have canned any coverage of the games being made by Pointstreak. The links are a waste of time even being there, because they all claim to be an “invalid page.”

What’s invalid is this whole league’s way of going about things, starting with that nightmare imbalanced schedule Dunn devised. Any you can tell that the stories coming out now about game coverage is his “work” also. He uses the same uncreative title lines almost every day…and yes I could do a lot better based on my Christian liberal arts education.
