Two League Champions Crowned, Two To Be Decided In Game Fives Tonight

In the past few days, two new independent professional baseball league championships were decided:

  • Can Am League 2016 Champions:  the Ottawa Champions
  • United Shore Professional Baseball League:  the Utica Unicorns

Both have been added to the list of historical independent baseball league champions since 1993 on this page:

 

Each championship is the first for the respective teams’ histories.

Tonight, two more championships will be decided in Game Fives (best-of-5):

  • River City Rascals vs. Evansville Otters (game to be played in Evansville) to determine the 2016 Frontier League championship (article here)
  • Winnipeg Goldeyes vs. Wichita Wingnuts (game to be played in Wichita) to determine the 2016 American Association championship (article here)

 

The Atlantic League championship teams are to be determined as the playoffs will start later this week.
