One of the difficult transitions which happens in independent baseball, and the fans usually don’t recognize, is that of a young pitching or hitting coach starting his coaching career the year after playing.  The “itch” to return to the field is significant and the minimal discrepancy in age between the coach and players can be both a positive and a negative.
