While many pro baseball “purists” have their opinions about the independent leagues, it is tough for them to deny the passion that aspiring players have in order to even get a spring training invitation.  One such example is an independent pro baseball open tryout which took place over the weekend in Santa Fe for the new 2012 Pecos League team, the Santa Fe Fuego:

An open tryout held at a time when snow was being removed from the field, and getting 29 prospective players to attend, shows the drive that some players have just to make a spring training roster.
