Interesting Attempt To Reduce Concession Stand Fraud

One of the significant concerns any minor league general manager (independent or affiliated) has is the risk of theft at the concession stands.  It is something not often discussed publicly, let alone quoted on a press release.   The reason is that minor league baseball, in all its forms, is presented as a family entertainment business.  Having theft as part of that equation dilutes the experience; and it could cause a drop in attendance along with the corresponding drop in concession revenues.

Here is an attempt to reduce the concessions theft, and this particular firm announced the introduction of this system at the American Association All-Star Game a few days ago:

  1. The Wingnuts have had this system since Day 1 at LDS in 2008. The press release mainly it just to mention in conjunction with the AA ASG.
