It covers his background in the independent minor leagues, and he is quoted as saying that in his tenure nearly 150 players made it from the independent leagues to affiliated baseball, including 5 which reached the Major Leagues after having been on one of his teams. The article briefly mentions his tenure as a Major League manager with the Houston Astros, winning the Manager of the Year award in 1986.
