2012 Independent Baseball Post-Season Updates Through Sept 8

Here is the update on the professional independent baseball leagues playoffs for the 2012 regular season, as of the morning of Sept. 9:


American Association

  • The Winnipeg Goldeyes beat the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in the best-of-5 divisional series.  The Wichita Wingnuts beat Laredo Lemurs in the best-of-5 divisional series.  Both teams swept their respective series
  • Game 1 of the 2012 AA championship series starts on Tuesday night in Winnipeg.  It also is a best-of-5 series

Atlantic League

  • The regular season is still going.  It will end on Sept. 23, after which the playoffs start

Can-Am League

  • The Quebec Capitales lead the New Jersey Jackals 2-1 in the best-of-7 2012 Can-Am League championship series.  Game 4 was postponed yesterday due to rain, and it will be played today in New Jersey.  Game 5 and the remaining games will be played in Quebec starting tomorrow, Monday Sept. 10

Frontier League

  • The Southern Illinois Miners swept the Traverse City Beach Bums in the best-of-5 series.  They advance to the 2012 Frontier League championship which will start this Wednesday, Sept. 12 at either the home stadium of the Florence Freedom or the Gateway Grizzlies
  • The Gateway Grizzlies lead the Florence Freedom 2-1 in the best-of-5 series.  Game 4 will be at Florence’s stadium today

North American League

  • San Rafael Pacifics won the Northern Division championship
  • The Edinburg Roadrunners lead the Fort Worth Cats 2-0 in the best-of-5 NAL United League Division championship.  Game 3, and any necessary remaining games, will be played in Edinburg starting tonight

Pecos League

  • Alpine Cowboys won the 2012 Pecos League championship in August
