Update On Independent Players In Major League Organizations

Longtime independent baseball columnist, Bob Wirz, covered the current independent players now with affiliated organizations.  According to his weekly membership column:

  • Six independent leagues have players who were affiliated contracts after the conclusion of the 2012 season
  • 21 players in total were signed after the regular season, 8 of which came from the American Association
  • 5 of these started their pro careers in the independent leagues
  • 28 players with independent experience are headed to Major League camps
